Welcome to Earlham Elementary Schools

Earlham Community School

Earlham Elementary serves Preschool-5th grade students and offers a free four-year-old preschool pro-
gram. With two to three classrooms per grade level, elementary students have the benefit of small class
sizes, with an average of twenty students per section.

Elementary students receive instruction aligned to the Iowa Core in Literacy, Math, Science and Social Studies. They also participate in art, music, physical education, library, technology, health, and guidance weekly. These courses provide students with a well-rounded education. 5th grade students have the opportunity to participate in band. Title Math and Reading, Reading Recovery, Special Education and Gifted programming is available for eligible students.

PBIS, a research-based behavioral intervention program, is used to teach and promote the desired behaviors within the building. With this program, common language and behavioral expectations are incorporated in
common areas of the building and classrooms. Faculty consistently reinforce positive behavior and provide
consequences for negative behavior, teaching students to be respectful, responsible, and proud.
